CALGARY— Liberal Leader Bob Rae made the following statement today on the opening of the centennial Calgary Stampede:
“The Calgary Stampede has always been an occasion for Canadians to come together and share in a unique aspect of our way of life. Today, after 100 years, the Stampede has become an incredible opportunity for Albertans to showcase their traditions, music and culture to the world.
Arlene and I are proud to be here in Calgary today to celebrate the opening of the Stampede and be among the more than a million attendees who will mark this important milestone.
On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary caucus, I wish all participants, visitors and organizers a wonderful Stampede.”
